To kick things off again, I'm going to re-up one of the old, dead links.<br />

Some films just seem to work out well as videogames while others really struggle to make the transition. One title that would have been an ideal conversion back in the day has finally received the homebrew treatment. Really now - the silver sphere + Phantasm? Why didn't anyone think of this earlier..?<br />
<br />
Anyway, it's a terrific conversion, featuring lots of samples and characters from the original film and plays like a treat!<br />

As anyone out there reading will be aware, I haven't uploaded anything on this blog since the death of Megaupload. This situation isn't go to change anytime soon since who knows which service provider is next? To be honest, I don't have a lot more to offer in the way of tunes either... <br />
<br />
So, I'm thinking to shifting the focus away from soundtracks and more along the lines of cult DVD and VHS reviews. I'm still a soundtrack junkie and need to update my request list but thank you to any readers who dropped me a line and offered a soundtrack or two. <br />
<br />
Back with a new look soon...<br />

A little aural treat in the Otis Redding / James Brown vein, courtesy of Wess & The Airedales. These funky soul tunes were originally released on a rare 45 that was issued by Durium in Italy way back in 1969. "Just Tell Me" is from the Umberto Lenzi giallo <strong>Orgasmo</strong> while "Crazy" hails from the <strong>Vedo Nudo</strong> soundtrack (although I've noticed this single mix is a little different to the version included on the complete soundtrack).</div><br /><br /><div>No complete album for Piero Umiliani's score to Orgasmo was ever issued but another 45 was released (this time by CAM) which contains the title vocal theme "Fate Had It Planned So", backed with Angelo Lavagnino's title theme to Un Corpo Caldo Per L'Inferno. You can check it out on Youtube over here (<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpiVuFBq_BM">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpiVuFBq_BM</a>) but the quality is pretty rough. If anyone has it in better quality, please drop me a line.<br /></div><br /><div>Not a great deal seems to be known about the mysterious Wess but he (and unnamed session musicians) sounds in fine form here. From the Wiki entry:</div><br /><br /><div><em>"Wesley Johnson aka Wess (August 13, 1945 - September 21, 2009) was an American born Italian singer perhaps mostly known for representing Italy along with Dori Ghezzi in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975 in Stockholm, Sweden, placing third. He Formed a successful duo with Ghezzi achieving some big hits in Italy, such as "Voglio Stare Con Te", "Come Stai? Con Chi Sei?" and "Un Corpo E Un'Anima". Originally from North Carolina, Wess moved to Italy in the '60s to pursue a musical career. Wess died in New York during his US tour when a breathing crisis lead to his death. Wess also played in the funk-soul band Wess & The Airedales in the mid '60s to early '70s"</em></div><br /><br /><div><strong>Orgasmo (45 RPM)</strong></div><br /><div><strong>Durium CN A 9297</strong> </div><br /><div><strong>Italy / 1969</strong><br /></div><br /><br /><div><strong>1 - Just Tell Me</strong> </div><br /><div><strong>2 - Crazy</strong></div></div><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-size:130%;"><strong><a href="http://www.megaupload.com/?d=27GXGP1Q">http://www.megaupload.com/?d=27GXGP1Q</a></strong></span></div></div></div></div></div></div>Spasmo Mixtapehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10450991841553953533noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5628829539804413508.post-88194978966921256422011-10-13T16:06:00.000-07:002011-10-13T16:46:56.277-07:00Everything's Got To Go!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmGIcxgddPo9xQdvqZud0G6spgICE6s69-IlXo6Z8HxdTOuDYrHxFw2UhO8vA9Hpr1bIgHZvfzVUCDhT0boSu5FF2DvFFKiRqQ0XI7Rq2tZTWSkuNcSuU__4lpiMnXh5xT80pjkV_p0vM/s1600/zombie.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5663118878001575586" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmGIcxgddPo9xQdvqZud0G6spgICE6s69-IlXo6Z8HxdTOuDYrHxFw2UhO8vA9Hpr1bIgHZvfzVUCDhT0boSu5FF2DvFFKiRqQ0XI7Rq2tZTWSkuNcSuU__4lpiMnXh5xT80pjkV_p0vM/s200/zombie.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibRLZgypdepmyrIz1FYD1eu0kFprgMV_s28CaixoKJWMmRp2GntgTDRKj7r0QdGOMsSBP79BlcgfagMnyhHlvaMODWtL_5OAQ5E4ko3OEwBue9JiykiqaCC3WfNVXUkjxO-8rSg4fiPec/s1600/tentacles.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5663118869925278274" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibRLZgypdepmyrIz1FYD1eu0kFprgMV_s28CaixoKJWMmRp2GntgTDRKj7r0QdGOMsSBP79BlcgfagMnyhHlvaMODWtL_5OAQ5E4ko3OEwBue9JiykiqaCC3WfNVXUkjxO-8rSg4fiPec/s200/tentacles.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvWuDRXyJZnsRgvhtCxBCfZzt0MhZdSZMKwlEmujcaOmQvWBpmDCjU8ljK_uzJn0WeMGnMLLSvt6O8_5NKucEPFNlv-Za_GBWwFWCy92jYSmqBLQUrjG82OF_tHjTYrzdvVrPYh1z_uEA/s1600/profondo+rosso+-+complete.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5663118862622872882" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvWuDRXyJZnsRgvhtCxBCfZzt0MhZdSZMKwlEmujcaOmQvWBpmDCjU8ljK_uzJn0WeMGnMLLSvt6O8_5NKucEPFNlv-Za_GBWwFWCy92jYSmqBLQUrjG82OF_tHjTYrzdvVrPYh1z_uEA/s200/profondo+rosso+-+complete.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXPsiGBJbXfRX3d6fyiHMmBkMtXOcsW432v0yWYfl1GX_YwsLI-G2GouyfZG3XWndBlaqVCiUwZLFsmFHBOsIw3QugDVxZnTLrMP7RNFfc5uBUvx9u1X3i-nLF3E_24YQpXsnSQnyNpZ8/s1600/foxy+brown.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5663118849614564194" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXPsiGBJbXfRX3d6fyiHMmBkMtXOcsW432v0yWYfl1GX_YwsLI-G2GouyfZG3XWndBlaqVCiUwZLFsmFHBOsIw3QugDVxZnTLrMP7RNFfc5uBUvx9u1X3i-nLF3E_24YQpXsnSQnyNpZ8/s200/foxy+brown.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7I7A7TE4tUlPdmCqtcRhi8FaE43KqPD3TQ6o0eA_FIMGRC0otutMoQ5LgU9oUgYKH0a3Q3YcfUn1JYRU_WFGcGSDfIGloqbdu_scZTOyMdzTR1A5XcRVSYIaAGLbHL52GutZobrZPxXk/s1600/dressed+to+kil.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5663118841577492194" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7I7A7TE4tUlPdmCqtcRhi8FaE43KqPD3TQ6o0eA_FIMGRC0otutMoQ5LgU9oUgYKH0a3Q3YcfUn1JYRU_WFGcGSDfIGloqbdu_scZTOyMdzTR1A5XcRVSYIaAGLbHL52GutZobrZPxXk/s200/dressed+to+kil.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div>Well, maybe not exactly but almost. After a long break from posting around here, I'm hoping to get some new shares up here shortly. In the meantime, I've made the big decision (for various reasons) to strip back my soundtrack collection via Ebay. I've been collecting soundtracks for 20 years now, so it's a painful process but must be done. All original CDs (other than "official" bootleg releases) that have only been played a handful of times before being kept in secure storage. English musician Boswell was no stranger to the Italian Schlock scene, having already contributed works to Phenomena, Demons 2, Stagefright and would go on to be Bava's 'composer of choice' for almost all of his efforts from around this period. The film is a fairly standard latter day giallo which serves more as a vehicle for the ample charms of Serena Grandi. There are a couple of minor points of interest: Italo pop princess Sabrina (anyone recall "Boys, boys, boys"?) and loveable George Eastman have sizeable roles, the killer has a demented point of view where he views his victims with insect heads and it's all backed with a punchy little score by Simon Boswell.</div><br /><div>Way back in the day, when I was buying and selling rare soundtracks on actual, physical vinyl (remember that?), I was offered this soundtrack, almost apologetically, by an Italian dealer. It's sourced from the original Cinevox audiocassette release which I then converted to CD. I'm guessing it's a pretty obscure release (the Soundtrack Collector website doesn't offer any info) which was released to limited quantities of vinyl and audiocassette. A few of the tracks have sultry spoken word by Serena Grandi and that's part of the official release. Seems like an odd choice perhaps Grandi was attempting to launch a recording career at the same time? In any case, I've included a rip of the title theme as it appears in the film as a bonus track. </div><div></div><div>Now if only I could get my hands on Simon Boswell's Brivido Giallo...</div><div> </div><div> </div><div></div><div><strong>Simon Boswell - Delirium: Le Foto Di Gioia (OST)</strong></div><div><strong>1 - Sete</strong></div><div><strong>2 - Le Foto Di Gioia</strong></div><div><strong>3 - Chase</strong></div><div><strong>4 - Climax (Instrumental)</strong></div><div><strong>5 - Delirio</strong></div><div><strong>6 - Window</strong></div><div><strong>7 - Air Fix</strong></div><div><strong>8 - Climax</strong></div><div><strong>9 - Adolf's Birthday</strong></div><div><strong>10 - Clean Sweep</strong></div><div><strong>11 - Moving Right Along</strong></div><div><strong>12 - Holding Perfectly Still</strong></div><div><strong>13 - Cemetery 1 & 2</strong></div><div><strong>14 - Il Sogno Di Serena</strong></div><div><strong>15 - Le Foto Di Gioia (Film Version)</strong></div><div> </div><div></div><div align="center"><strong>LINK IN THE COMMENTS</strong></div></div></div></div></div>Spasmo Mixtapehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10450991841553953533noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5628829539804413508.post-29661868805829611652011-03-02T04:02:00.000-08:002011-03-02T04:12:12.137-08:00UNHINGED EP by LIMINAL<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj33p-DbyzJAXwyyQaHWcpg6IB7UTKNJLmT6j4GWVQ3DEIUpAPP4Tp-bSquzcPGVxp_M8-daH3ZW0eyEajOGs6Fzj5vNi80r0aJlHRr5gsaKg3NHtUKZ3_h7zJQ7uu2UHYp8jrzkFi2BB8/s1600/liminal_unhinged_cover.gif"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5579454106477992018" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj33p-DbyzJAXwyyQaHWcpg6IB7UTKNJLmT6j4GWVQ3DEIUpAPP4Tp-bSquzcPGVxp_M8-daH3ZW0eyEajOGs6Fzj5vNi80r0aJlHRr5gsaKg3NHtUKZ3_h7zJQ7uu2UHYp8jrzkFi2BB8/s200/liminal_unhinged_cover.gif" border="0" /></a>One of the best things about running a blog is that you never quite know what goodies are going to turn up in your inbox. This was a nice little surprise: "Unhinged", the debut EP from Indy soundscape artist Liminal. If you like creepy, minimal synths ala early John Carpenter & Angelo Badalamenti, then you're really going to enjoy this.<br /><div></div><br /><div>Along with a free download, you can also get your hands on a limited edition CDR. Many years ago, I even scoured the city library in an effort to see more of these type of advertisments, but to little avail. I soon realized that these ads originally appeared in the weekly US film trade newspaper Variety, but finding genre-related product was a strictly hit & miss affair. Then I kinda forget about them for a while... <div><div><br /> </div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div>Cut to over 10 years later and that beautiful thing we know as the 'net has delivered the goods once again. We've hit the 10,000 views point and in order to celebrate I've put together a little sampler mix that manages to combine the best from the previous posts as well as the inclusion of a few updated/remastered versions of previous posts. </div><br /><div>So this is for the handful of good folk who've popped in and shared their thoughts, even shared some tunes before departing into the night. Also I thought this might make an ideal introduction to the blog for anyone who's been curious about some of the music to be had around here. Not to mention it's an ideal way fro me to serve up leftovers. I guess it's also for that strange guy over there in the corner who comes and goes before you even notice... C'mon guys..!)</div><br /><div align="center"><strong>Some notes on Spasmo Mixtape Sampler - Session 1</strong><br /><br /></div><div><strong><em>A Blade In The Dark</em></strong> - This suite is a different mix than previously featured on 7 Notes From The Crypt. This manages to combine most of the themes from the film into one mix.</div><br /><div><strong><em>Man From Deep River</em></strong> - After scouring through a back catalogue of library stuff in my collection, I realised Patucchi had officially released the theme on a CAM library album.</div><div> </div><div><strong><em>Cut & Run</em></strong> - I found a clip that features the 12" mix as featured on the B side of the Claudio Simonetti "Skywalker" LP. Since Simonetti has claimed that the master tapes for this release are long lost to a flooding incident, this may be the only chance to source it!</div><br /><div><strong><em>Goblin2010</em></strong> - These live studio tracks were recorded May 2010 and feature the (almost) classic line-up of Massimo Morante, Claudio Simonetti & Maurizio Guarini (no Fabio Pignatelli?).</div><br /><div><strong><em>Horror Express & My Bloody Valentine</em></strong> - A couple of very nicely composed horror themes. If I had of thought of them in time, I would have included them on my <strong><em>Gore Score</em></strong> release.</div><br /><div><strong><em>Robbery - alt (Last House On The Beach)</em></strong> - I think I sourced this from Paul Durango's blog. For these projects, Bacalov wrote and composed various themes which were then performed by Italian prog rock bands Osanna & The New Trolls. </div><div><br /> </div></div><div>Milano Calibro 9 is a great slice of Italo crime directed by one of the masters of the genre Fernando Di Leo. After a mobster is released from prison, he finds himself unable to get out of the game when mobsters become convinced he's holding onto a secret loot stash.</div><div></div><div>It's worth noting that the film actually uses different mixes of the themes (just Bacalov compositions?) then what appeared on the original albums. If you haven't heard this before, you're gonna love it. Classical influences clash with early '70s prog rock (especially Jethro Tull) with an Italian flavour. You might have even heard a snippet of the main theme sampled by DJ Shadow! I was actually lucky enough to pick up a mint Japanese lp at a record fair many years ago. It was one of the first lps I ever picked up and it was only years later (after having a hard time finding the CD reissue) that I realised just how lucky I was. It's still a personal favourite and probably in my top ten soundtracks of all time. Yep, it's that good. </div><br /><div>Maurizio Lucidi's "The Designated Victim" (frankly I prefer the "Murder By Design" video retitle, which is where I first saw the film) is a spin on Hitchcock's "Strangers On A Train", with Tomas Milian and Pierre Clementi as a pair who promise to murder the others spouse. Naturally, things don't run that smoothly. It's maybe a bit too tame for it's own good (and lacks the delirium of any other Italo thriller from that period) but Milian & the great score make it worthwhile.</div></div><br /><div><strong>Milano Calibro 9 - Osanna & Luis Bacalov</strong><br /></div><div>1 - Preludio</div><div>2 - Tema</div><div>3 - Variazione I - To Plinius</div><div>4 - Variazione II - My Mind Flies</div><div>5 - Variazione III - Shuum...</div><div>6 - Variazione IV - Tredicesimo Cortile</div><div>7 - Variazione V - Dianalogo</div><div>8 - Variazione VI - Spunti Dallo Spartito...</div><div>9 - Variazione VII - Posizione Raggiunta</div><div>10 - Canzona - There Will Be Time</div><div> </div><div></div><div><strong>The Designated Victim (Concerto Grosso) - New Trolls & Luis Bacalov</strong></div><div>11 - Allegro</div><div>12 - Adagio (Shadows)</div><div>13 - Cadenza - Andante Con Moto</div><div>14 - Shadows (per Jimy Hendrix)</div><div>15 - Nella Sala Vuota, Improvvisazioni Dei New Trolls </div></div><div align="left"></div><div align="center"><br /><strong>LINK IN THE COMMENTS</strong></div></div>Spasmo Mixtapehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10450991841553953533noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5628829539804413508.post-36536179694911826872010-10-29T07:10:00.000-07:002010-10-29T07:35:07.164-07:00Monsters & Magic<div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFJLUwSIVm3FFpZ84QMre_juFiKn9DfWJMGuU4C62dSNSNUCryqqJ1PL1f51_9kuW6ieCJ9xDIs_7ez8v7-D243xOLqB1CPedHFBH1NOnl7te8Cadae-HGqxHbT1_g7hDghNY_TRuWMz4/s1600/screenshot100.png"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533474409664042194" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFJLUwSIVm3FFpZ84QMre_juFiKn9DfWJMGuU4C62dSNSNUCryqqJ1PL1f51_9kuW6ieCJ9xDIs_7ez8v7-D243xOLqB1CPedHFBH1NOnl7te8Cadae-HGqxHbT1_g7hDghNY_TRuWMz4/s200/screenshot100.png" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL4yPBbGK1engphRcXg-Ez8LIKb6QXJwEDGpYVU6zwTwiFx4aQyju3jTAxQlsMbJudpDBeZzA1qyhS0vjAr-naJGXFKoVvzFVot01ENlbh_WOV7cWHmUwAfiiaSAoOTdx3fLgi-lNoZLw/s1600/screenshot108.png"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533474401111681730" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL4yPBbGK1engphRcXg-Ez8LIKb6QXJwEDGpYVU6zwTwiFx4aQyju3jTAxQlsMbJudpDBeZzA1qyhS0vjAr-naJGXFKoVvzFVot01ENlbh_WOV7cWHmUwAfiiaSAoOTdx3fLgi-lNoZLw/s200/screenshot108.png" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMBhW8-8Mgr06UrlTTqyj_QUX_kRztYyzCURrT4NOfrdk6IPWuO58PUGnZV2nMK5J19425NdSgWOI8hskqePtYhmziCPHdaWwKH3QMOYJgwMAqxIRq0ioB_QlGa_vpSqUGds0UkZ7-i2c/s1600/screenshot107.png"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533474402309485842" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMBhW8-8Mgr06UrlTTqyj_QUX_kRztYyzCURrT4NOfrdk6IPWuO58PUGnZV2nMK5J19425NdSgWOI8hskqePtYhmziCPHdaWwKH3QMOYJgwMAqxIRq0ioB_QlGa_vpSqUGds0UkZ7-i2c/s200/screenshot107.png" border="0" /></a><br /><div>A little Halloween present for everyone... As well as be a fan of slightly odd Euro schlock soundscapes, I'm a big fan of old school video games. I think I've owned just about every console available over the years (feeling reeeeal old now) and spent plenty of lunch money at arcades during my school years. Lots of precious memories there. I'd always wanted to create/design games of my own and using the pretty amazing (to me anyway) Game Maker software, I've managed to finish a little video game project of my own. Now I want to share it with you.</div><br /><div>It's an arcade platform shooter loosely inspired by retro classics like Ghosts n' Goblins, Castlevania, Metroid, Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man and lots of other 8 bit NES / Famicom titles.</div><br /><div>The Halloween connection? There's a loose horror theme going on with the first few levels set in a grave yard and a variety (plethora? bestiary?) of monstrous lil' critters out to hurt you.</div><br /><div>It's a small file, just under 3MB and pretty straightforward to play. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. I'll be putting together an 'upgraded' version somewhere down the track so any feedback/criticisms will be given consideration:</div><br /><div></div><br /><div><a href="http://www.yoyogames.com/games/149193-monsters-and-magic">http://www.yoyogames.com/games/149193-monsters-and-magic</a></div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533476171458473938" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX-JwFb-zpfLVcrBz_a1iRgZStgLdnKZFcebL57Yfr4OsogbBRiW8nrLmq0Cvrtwd-dxWu2hoJG4d3f5PqRYgIVlxQmxL9GPpTOLmE4UKq3V-3UKy2_RR5hl4MvCtqxNhbv0_Qbofanmo/s200/advision.png" border="0" /><br /><div>I've also started a blog to cover my video game projects and my 'imaginary' company AdVISION:</div><br /><div><a href="http://advisiongames.blogspot.com/">http://advisiongames.blogspot.com/</a></div><br /><div></div><br /><div align="center"><strong>HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!</strong></div></div></div></div>Spasmo Mixtapehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10450991841553953533noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5628829539804413508.post-75033067624515819132010-10-27T17:28:00.000-07:002010-10-27T18:13:41.727-07:00The Vampires Of Dartmoore<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSUWIBU2Nc4WsB4ZAZi-sGaoFA6Zi_hQQwiL38-xKkO7Plf2Or_MlA9optl-SM47FASZnbij3EYHavLPTpBjUTTAPUs5SRuTTl05ljPkxtzdayUN4lGDMW3FibSmXw0oqHVvLhQWX9sXQ/s1600/dartmmor.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5532897316584566306" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSUWIBU2Nc4WsB4ZAZi-sGaoFA6Zi_hQQwiL38-xKkO7Plf2Or_MlA9optl-SM47FASZnbij3EYHavLPTpBjUTTAPUs5SRuTTl05ljPkxtzdayUN4lGDMW3FibSmXw0oqHVvLhQWX9sXQ/s200/dartmmor.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Some wonderfully spooky & jazzy German vibes from this classic 1968 album. The album title is Dracula's Horror Cabinet and if you haven't heard it already, then you're in for a real treat. Imagine catching some strange Edgar Wallace / Jess Franco film that never existed on early morning TV and you'll get an idea of the kind of trippy sounds we're talking about here. </div><br /><div>I don't know a great deal about the album other than it appears Horst Ackermann and Heribert Thusek were the musicians and there very well may have been acid in consumption judging by the overall wackiness of the project. My favourite track is "Hello Mr Hichcock"; a jaunty little number with a twist. It's Sante Maria Romitelli's score for the 1977 schlocker "Yeti: Giant Of The 20th Century". </div><div> </div><div>In case it wasn't bloody obvious, it's an Italian made "King Kong" rip-off that was rushed into production when the Dino De Laurentiis remake was making headlines. I've only ever suffered through the dreadfully pan & scanned version released to video tape way back in the early eighties. From memory, it was one of those covers than only featured poster artwork; no photos - usually a good sign you've just rented a stinkaroonie.</div></div><div> </div><div>It's pretty much a retread of the Kong formula only with even cheesier effects than the De Laurentiis version (if possible) and some of the most appalling rear projection effects ever committed to film. There's also too much time spent on a silly dog subplot and not nearly enough Yeti smashing stuff. There is however a strangely perverse scene of Antonella Interlenghi brushing against Yeti's nipple, causing it to dilate!</div><div><br /></div><div>Director 'Frank Kramer' (Gianfranco Parolini), who had previously helmed the recommended western "Sabata", does the best he can with what little he has and at the very least, there's a worthwhile Romitelli score. There's even a disco theme performed by Romitelli & the session musicians under the name 'The Yetians'! And this film is a damn sight better than that other "Kong" clone "Queen Kong" but that may be only because it doesn't have a grinning Robin Askwith in it.</div><div> </div><div><strong>A note about the format: this is a 'lossless' share; so you're gonna get a log, Image sheet and a WAV file which has been converted into a FLAC file. If there's actually any demand for it, I'll consider the possibility of an MP3 alternative.</strong></div><div><br />1 - The Giant - Overture (05:19)<br />2 - Idyllic Largo (06:10)<br />3 - Magic Epilogue (04:59)<br />4 - Yeti (03:11)<br />5 - Dreaming Of An Impossible Love (03:06)<br />6 - Funky Disco Soul (02:34)<br />7 - Celestial Reverie (01:56)<br />8 - Magic In The Air (02:36)<br />9 - Fugue In A Minor (01:22)</div><div> </div><div align="center"><strong>LINK IN THE COMMENTS</strong></div></div></div></div></div></div>Spasmo Mixtapehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10450991841553953533noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5628829539804413508.post-27415447661701193142010-09-03T18:20:00.000-07:002010-09-03T19:00:49.529-07:00A Few Notes From Cipriani<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimq2IwEdA2Z6zYcSVoogVDuq2beSFlM21W3iBHnZBvcEIqvmPm7Ma-ubV-I8Uf1RgOIJz6M7fKEkIrkUvNL3-K7Nar8iEwxu1n4FMf5zi73yvGtnXvtUHvS_3hwZZ-LQt9sdAtxuaFPuk/s1600/bersaglio.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5512870445884048898" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 93px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimq2IwEdA2Z6zYcSVoogVDuq2beSFlM21W3iBHnZBvcEIqvmPm7Ma-ubV-I8Uf1RgOIJz6M7fKEkIrkUvNL3-K7Nar8iEwxu1n4FMf5zi73yvGtnXvtUHvS_3hwZZ-LQt9sdAtxuaFPuk/s200/bersaglio.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBIQPsdtKawuFPApngDKhRCQei8y0MxZi8UFXuF5Jp3pUjxOP3Jw5bNnnQ2H20cMkTBEobC-YtR7miCuPjVYc953MNqvxvYgBkWCzfryojRuKkummEerImSVwy4RaNY7wUj81GnNjcfMw/s1600/CAMCmL187.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5512870439868732818" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBIQPsdtKawuFPApngDKhRCQei8y0MxZi8UFXuF5Jp3pUjxOP3Jw5bNnnQ2H20cMkTBEobC-YtR7miCuPjVYc953MNqvxvYgBkWCzfryojRuKkummEerImSVwy4RaNY7wUj81GnNjcfMw/s200/CAMCmL187.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>I'm a big fan of composer Stelvio Cipriani. While he can already count such memorable themes as "Baron Blood", "Rabid Dogs", "Iguana With A Tongue Of Fire", "Mark The Nark" (and a swag of other Italo crime flicks), "Nightmare City" and "Anonimo Veneziano" - to name just a few - to his credit, Cipriani has composed a LOT of music. Naturally a composer this diverse worked on a variety of projects, including a number of library albums, pressed in very limited quantities. A kind soul was good enough to upload a few of these tracks (thank you Musicali78 - any chance of getting the full album..???) and I've ripped 'em and put them together in this little Stelvio Cipriani compilation. It's a small file, around 25MB, so think of it as an EP that never was. Go on - put it on your MP3 player and strut down the street with a spring in your step!</div><br /><div>1 - Bersaglio Altezza Uomo (1979)</div><div>2 - Sweet Meeting (1979)</div><div>3 - Ground Glass (1980)</div><div>4 - That's Enough For Now (1980)</div><div>5 - The Magic Touch (1980)</div><br /><div><strong>LINK IN THE COMMENTS</strong></div></div>Spasmo Mixtapehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10450991841553953533noreply@blogger.com3
